A Suggested Work Flow
- Get familiar with your camera’s operation
Close up mode & manual focusing with point n shoot camera
- Aperture priority mode and changing equivalent film speed for digital SLR camera
- Tripod adjustments
Spot a flower or flower group of interest
Allow yourself an hour of time, preferably in the morning
- In the field
Decide what attracts you to the flower
- Look for perspectives that best highlights what attracts you
- Try to eliminate distracting backgrounds
Stake flower, if needed
- Set up camera on tripod
Position camera for best perspective
- Look for perspectives that best highlights what attracts you
- Carefully check viewfinder for distracting background or other unintended elements
Check that automatic focus is proper, switch to manual if needed
Try taking a photo with an aperture around f/5.6
- Review the photo on the back display
Exposure OK? (if too dark, + exposure compensation, too light, - compensation)
- Subject in focus?
- Background OK?
- Make adjustments and repeat, repeat, repeat
